5 Things You Should Do in Himachal Pradesh


Himachal Pradesh, a state of the green valley, is situated in the north of India surrounded by Punjab, Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir. The Himachal Pradesh is known for its lush green valley, endless flowing river and its apple orchard. Many tourists attract toward Himachal for its beautiful scenery and lush green valley. Some places like Shimla Valley, Parvati Valley and Solang Valley are the main attraction among foreign and local tourist.

Here are 5 things you must do when you visit Himachal Pradesh. 

1. Visit Apple Orchard and IIAS


Himachal is Known for its apple and apple orchard, and if you are in Shimla or Kinnaur than you must visit the apple orchard in both location. You will feel amazed to see how the apple produced in its environment. Definitely, visit and you'll learn something. Still, its good to visit once.



The Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) is a research institute based in Shimla, India. It was set up by the Ministry of Education, Government of India in 1964 and it started functioning from 20 October 1965. The building that houses the institute was originally built as a home for Lord Dufferin, Viceroy of India from 1884–1888 and was called the Viceregal Lodge.It housed all the subsequent viceroys and governors general of India. It occupied Observatory Hill, one of the seven hills that Shimla is built upon. The building was designed by Henry Irwin, an architect in the Public Works Department. The Viceregal Lodge had electricity as early as 1888, much before the rest of the town of Shimla. The building also was equipped with a sophisticated firefighting mechanism through wax-tipped water ducts.



2. Adventure Park Kufri


If you are in Shimla, then you must do some adventure activity like Go-Kart, Kangaroo Jump, Sky Swinger, Haunting House, Bungee Ejection and many more...

You will find many options in Kufri like Adventure Resort and Kufri Fun World. You will also find a paintball shooting range to have some fun on the ground there. Its good to have some fun there while you are away from all the tension and misery.


3. River Rafting and Paragliding


If you are adventure junkie than you should definitely do River Rafting and Paragliding. You will find many places where river rafting and Paragliding can be done. Like you can do it in Manali-Solang Valley, Kullu, Bir Billing and Rohtang La (Pass). The Bir Billig is most famous among many tourists because International Paragliding Championship held there. Many paragliders from India and other Country participate there to win this contest. 

4. Visit Religious Places


I know some of you what am I saying? But Its true... You definitely visit some of the famous temples here. It's not because of its religious factor but due to the fact that they are situated on the top of mountains and have some amazing scenery. Some of them are Jakhu Temple Shimla, Maa Tara Devi Temple Shimla, Hadimba Temple Manali, Chaurasi Mandir Chamba, Dalai Lama Temple Dharamshala, Key Monetary Spiti, Jwalamukhi Temple Jwalaji, Chintpurni Temple Chintpurni and many more. You will feel relax and may find inner peace within yourself. You will find the only Dharamraj Temple and Surya Mandir in Chamba and Rampur respectively. The Himachal is the Land of God and if you are don't pay a visit to God than your tour is not complete.


5. Chanshal, Solang, GHNP & Toy Train


Chanshal:

The Chanshal Pass, or Chanshal Valley, links Dodra Kwar and Rohru (Chirgaon) in the Shimla district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The pass sits atop Chanshal Peak, which at 4,520 metres (14,830 ft) is the highest peak in the Shimla district. The pass remains open from May to October and is covered with snow for the rest of the year.

Chanshal Pass is one of the untouched and nearly unheard areas of Himachal Pradesh. You must search the google and blogs for it.  

Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP) 

The Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP), is one of India's national parks, is located in Kullu region in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The park was established in 1984 and is spread over an area of 1,171 km2 at an altitude of between 1500 and 6000 m. The Great Himalayan National Park is a habitat to numerous flora and more than 375 fauna species, including approximately 31 mammals, 181 birds, 3 reptiles, 9 amphibians, 11 annelids, 17 molluscs and 127 insects. They are protected under the strict guidelines of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972; hence any sort of hunting is not permitted.
In June 2014, the Great Himalayan National Park was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. The Unesco World Heritage Site Committee granted the status to the park under the criteria of "outstanding significance for biodiversity conservation".

Toy Train


The Kalka–Shimla Railway is a 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) narrow-gauge railway in North India which traverses a mostly-mountainous route from Kalka to Shimla. It is known for dramatic views of the hills and surrounding villages. The railway was built in 1898 to connect Shimla, the summer capital of India during the British Raj, with the rest of the Indian rail system. During its construction, 107 tunnels and 864 bridges were built along the route. The project's chief engineer was H. S. Harington.

Its early locomotives were manufactured by Sharp, Stewart and Company. Larger locomotives were introduced, which were manufactured by the Hunslet Engine Company. Diesel and diesel-hydraulic locomotives began operation in 1955 and 1970, respectively.

On 8 July 2008, UNESCO added the Kalka–Shimla railway to the mountain railways of India World Heritage Site.
